After two decades working internationally across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and management consulting industries, I spent years searching for a backpack that was polished enough for conferences and client meetings, yet practical and comfortable for daily use.

Most were either overly casual, uncomfortable, or lacked the functionality required for professional settings.

MELIJA was created as an alternative: leather backpacks and accessories designed to combine refined style with genuine practicality.

I created the work backpack I could never find myself.

Will my laptop fit?

The MIRA 14" is designed to fit laptops up to 14 inches comfortably. It also fits some slim 15" models such as the MacBook Air (34.0 × 23.8 × 1.2 cm), but larger 15" laptops will not fit due to the bag’s structured, curved shape. What’s the difference between the 14" and 16"?

The MIRA 14" is our original size, designed for streamlined everyday carry.

The MIRA 16" offers approximately 30% more volume while maintaining the same structured, polished form, fitting larger 15" and 16" laptops with additional space for items such as a jumper, shoes, or larger tech accessories.

Both styles are made from the same premium materials. The MIRA 16" also features a strap design to better support heavier loads and a more reinforced base.

How much does the MIRA backpack weigh?

The MIRA 14" weighs 1.3kg (2.9lb) and the MIRA 16" weighs 1.6kg (3.5lb).

What leather is the MIRA made from?

Our products are made from full-grain cowhide leather, the highest grade of leather. Full-grain leather is the outermost layer of the hide and is stronger and more durable than lower grades. "Pebbled" refers to the textured surface of the leather, which helps disguise minor scratches and everyday wear while adding a distinctive look and feel.

Does the leather scratch easily?

Pebbled full-grain leather is naturally resistant to minor scratches and scuffs.

Does the Mira backpack fit 15” and 16” laptops?

The MIRA Backpack is available in two sizes:

MIRA Backpack

Designed to fit laptops up to 14 inches comfortably.

It also fits some slim 15" MacBook Air models (34.0 × 23.8 × 1.2 cm), but larger or thicker 15" laptops will not fit due to the bag’s structured, curved shape.

MIRA 16" Backpack

Designed specifically to fit 15" and 16" laptops, including larger MacBook Pro models, with additional space for documents and daily essentials.

Is the MIRA waterproof?

The MIRA is made from full-grain pebbled leather, which offers natural resistance to light rain and minor splashes. It is not fully waterproof, and we recommend keeping it out of heavy rain. If it does get wet, wipe dry with a soft cloth and allow to air dry away from direct heat.

Does it work for travel?

Yes. A luggage pass-through strap keeps it secure over a suitcase handle, and the MIRA is compact enough to fit underneath the seat and in overhead storage on flights.

What is the warranty on the MIRA?

The MIRA comes with a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. If you experience an issue with your bag, please contact us at hello@melija.com.au with your order details and a description of the fault.
